The Balancing Act: An Intro

Chloe leaves work several times a week to take her mother to doctor’s appointments.  Then, she spends several hours each night after her kids go to bed catching up on work projects.  She’s exhausted. 

Rafael’s father calls him several times a day with questions while he’s at work, interrupting him during important client meetings.  His dad’s a recent widower living on the other side of the country, and Rafael feels obligated to answer every call. 

Both of their employers have noticed decreased productivity, increased stress, and more importantly, a dip in morale, as both navigate full-time jobs, children, and caregiving for their aging parents. 

It’s a delicate balancing act playing out in workplaces and at homes across the country.  

A recent Harvard Business School survey found the U.S. is in the midst of a hidden caregiver crisis, impacting employees and companies alike.  It found without adequate caregiving support for employees, organizations incur millions of dollars of hidden costs through employee turnover and substantial productivity costs. 

At Homethrive, we are on a mission to provide a lifeline to employees and employers so they can achieve balance. That is the inspiration for our new blog – The Balancing Act. We hope you’ll join us on this journey.
