Consider this. Right now, according to a demographic report by the Rural Health Information Hub, there are more than 46 million adults over 65 living in the U.S. By 2050, that number will balloon to nearly 90 million! We are truly about to experience what many have dubbed “The Silver Tsunami.”
The consensus is that current federal and state programs alone cannot support them.
Who will take care of this aging population, and how we take care of them, is the subject of a recent article by Dana Sun at OCA Ventures.
Her piece lays out various caregiving innovations, including services that assist with activities of daily living, remote monitoring technologies, care planning and coordination tools, and social well-being applications.
Not surprisingly, Sun highlighted Homethrive as a top solution to this caregiving crisis. Most notably because of our innovations in streamlining care coordination and providing expert guidance for stressed out caregivers, many of whom are likely your employees!
A recent Homethrive survey found more than 40 percent of workers polled say they’re spending at least five hours a week coordinating care for an aging loved one, while another 20% are distracted at least nine hours a week.
The sooner we acknowledge and address this caregiver crisis, the better off we will all be.
